Join us for a very special screening of Ohke Kah Nippi Mehquontamuonk / Earth and Water Memory, as we bring it home to UMASS Boston, where it was  commissioned and made possible with the support of: The University of Massachusetts Boston’s Institute for New England Native American Studies; Native American and Indigenous Studies Program; The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and the Office of Housing and Residential Life.

Join us for the premiere of a very special work created over 5 years in direct collaboration and partnership between members of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe (Aquinnah Cultural Center), Danza Orgánica, and The Yard.

Join us for film screenings of Ohke Kah Nippi Mehquontamuonk / Earth and Water Memory, a new film produced and directed by artist and Neighborhood Salon Luminary Mar Parrilla. The film features performances and choreography by local artists Jenny Oliver, Andre Strongbearheart Gaines Jr., and Mar Parrilla, and cinematography by Daniel Callahan and Aric Crow Peña. The 6:30 pm screening will be followed by a conversation with director Mar Parrilla, artist Andre Strongbearheart Gaines Jr. and cinematographer Daniel Callahan, at 7:00 pm. 
Hear from Indigenous artist collaborators about their relationship to earth, water, and memory, and how they explored these elements in the making of their film.

The Gardner Museum will be hosting screenings of powerful short films throughout the day featuring local Indigenous artists, cultural workers, and collaborators, followed by a conversation with participating artists at 4:00pm. Films featured include: Ohke Kah Nippi Mehquontamuonk / Earth and Water Memory, and Indigenous Perspectives: The Gardner Museum (featuring Elizabeth Solomon, Erin Genia, and Mar Parrilla).

We are so excited to share two poems by Martín Espada's Floaters, winner of the National Book Award- and verses by Raquel Sala Rivera- with movement created by Danza Orgánica. Martín Espada will be present and will read live. Don't miss this opportunity to meet one of the most important poets! 
In addition, we will be sharing with you a work in process of a piece that is being generated from Hurricane Fiona- in collaboration with artists in Borikén.

October 14th, 2019: Mar Parrilla coproduced Indigenous Peoples' Day at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Indigenous artists represented included: Elizabeth Solomon (Massachusett), Robert Peters (Mashpee Wampanoag), Larry Spotted Crow Mann (Nipmuc), Andre Strongbearheart Gaines Jr. (Nipmuc), and members of the Aquinnah Wampanoag tribe who performed a work in progress of their work "We Are Here" in collaboration with Danza Orgánica.

September 26-28, 2019: Marsha Parrilla performs at group show from Next Steps Grant at the Boston Center for the Arts. 

August 18th and September 14th, 2019: Harbor Islands: Past, Present, Future: Through this residency, Marsha Parrilla will help shed light on the historic accounts of Harbor Islands as expressed through the voices of the people whose ancestors were part of the islands; illuminate their contemporary history (and the ongoing presence of Native peoples on the islands), and serve as a platform to collectively create a fresh vision for Indigenous people people. This project creates spaces to heal these collective wounds to our land, our minds, and our spirits- and to dream a better future for generations to come.

September 14th, 2019: Indigenous Women's Perspectives on Deer Island. 1-4:00PM at Carson Beach, Boston. This event will explore the women and children's experience during King Phillips War, with a focus on Deer Island. There will be an all Massachusetts Native female panel- as well as fun, interactive, and educational family activities.

August 18th, 2019: Indigenous Perspectives on Environmental Justice. 1-4:30PM at Carson Beach, Boston. This unique intertribal event features Massachusetts-based Native American leaders in their communities. It will feature a dynamic panel, focused on Indigenous perspectives on Environmental Racism and Environmental Justice in the Harbor Islands. There will also be fun, interactive, and educational family activities including- the creation of a model of the Harbor Islands' transition through time with climate change; a Healing Salve-Making Workshop, and a songwriting workshop dedicated to Mother Earth's healing- and recognition of her sacredness.

August 7th, 2019: Excerpts of We are Here at the Aquinnah Cultural Center Fundraiser, Aquinnah- Martha's Vineyard. This powerful new work is being developed in close collaboration with the Aquinnah Wampanoag people through dance, song, installation, and storytelling. The work will be in development through Summer 2020, and is made possible through a partnership with The Yard, Aquinnah Cultural Center, and Danza Orgánica.

January 30th, 2017- Mills Gallery, Boston Center for the Arts. Marsha Parrilla hosted a Martha's Artist Salon, where she explored gender perspectives and ways that choreographers and dancers tackle gender issues through dance and performance. She also shared her findings from interviews to 10 prominent choreographers in Boston and NYC.
