MEET THE TEAM

Marsha Parrilla is the lead choreographer and coordinator of this project. She generated this work through interviews with formerly incarcerated women, and children of incarcerated parents. She is invested in creating a genuine work of art, that will reflect this reality, while incorporating the affected population in the creation/interpretation of the work.

Danza Orgánica members are the backbone of this project. Please visit the company page for company bios.

Community Partners:

Tony Williams has provided D.O. with a space grant at the Tony Williams Dance Center. To learn more about Tony Williams, click here.
Vanessa Ly is the Program Director for Sisters Unchained. She immigrated to the U.S. from Lima, Peru at the age of 4. She holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.  Ly currently runs Sisters Unchained- a program for young women who have been directly affected by incarceration. For more information on this program, click here.

Ayana Aubourg is a member of Young Abolitionists and Co-Director of Sisters Unchained. Her experiences living with an incarcerated parent has deeply influenced her passion for building with young people affected by the prison system. Ayana serves as a key advisor in the project, as well as a performer.

Monique Sadberry shared her story as a main contribution to this project. She was a woman who was formerly incarcerated, and turned her life around since her last release. Sadberry graduated from culinary school, and was a key advisor in the project. We are deeply saddened by her sudden death on May 4, 2017. Running in Stillness is dedicated to Monique Sadberry, and all the victims of mass incarceration.
